Diversity is our Strength
Along with the rest of our country and the world, we were devastated and heartbroken by the racially-motivated incidents in Minnesota, Georgia and other places across the U.S. this year. President Martha Pollack sent out a message to the entire Cornell community. We would like to underscore her message of support for our Black community and the unacceptable nature of racist behavior.
Diversity is our strength. Our community is at its best when everyone feels safe and included, and has access to the same resources and agency. These incidents reinforce the fragility and unpredictability of justice for many in our community. We must stand together to demand justice, but also continue to work to maintain and grow the safety and equity of our own community.
We would like nothing more than to come together as a community to underscore these sentiments and support each other. We are saddened that we cannot share this pain and express our solidarity in person due to the current social isolation, which makes this situation even more difficult to bear. Please know that we are here to support every single one of you, particularly those of you who may fear for your life or those of your loved ones.
Stay well and safe.
